Take care of Security with the Embedded DVR

By Steve Thibeault

As and embedded DVR is not connected to a regular computer, you do not have to worry about virus attacks or any other PC related failures. The standalone DVR may not be connected conventionally but this does not affect its function.

An embedded DVR is very compact and the hard drive, computer-chip, operating system and central processor unit are all contained within a small case. The design allows you to receive signals and record these directly onto the chip and contrary to what you might think, lengthy recording times can be achieved.

Conventional surveillance systems can be somewhat cumbersome, but the embedded DVR, being a plug and play product, is very portable and flexible. Multiple cameras can be supported and the system can be set up to detect intruders, signaling an alarm which sets off remote monitoring and recording.

Numerous applications have been found for the embedded DVR and this product can be seen extensively within the transportation environment. Flexible and compact units can record whatever happens on board school and city buses, which unfortunately tend to give rise to security and behavioral concerns from time to time.

As an embedded DVR is not integrated within the traditional computer set up, they are not as vulnerable to threats of security, as the operating system is not accessible. A remote administrator can nevertheless manipulate the settings and users report that this type of DVR is far easier to operate than its PC-based counterparts.

When security is very important, people may often opt to have several tiers of security cameras throughout the property. The flexibility of embedded DVR allows the user to remotely monitor and track whatever is going on, at a variety of different locations, simultaneously.

There seems to be no limit to the different types of environment and situations applicable to the use of the embedded DVR camera. Industrial and corporate security bosses are using them in a variety of creative roles.

The embedded DVR is not just confined to the commercial world, as homeowners are valuing the additional security that they represent. Very often these items are used to protect investments or to monitor several different properties.
