Free to Use - A Character Reference Letter Template

By Peter Johns

Who would ever think of filing a sample character reference letter for referring to at a later date?

If you're asked to write a reference letter, it would be assumed by all that it will be written in a positive manner. After all, by definition, a reference is simply that. You're referring one person to another & you would not do that if the person you're referring is not legitimate, would you?

That's Just Common Sense Isn't It?

For legal reasons, many business owners do not allow employees to provide any type of referrence letter to another employee of the same company. If you are of the same opinion, you're off the hook.

Your best falling in line if your boss has this same policy.

If the particular individual has high credibility & you rate them as such, then you really should write one... Grab a plain sheet to write it on. You may wish to check with your boss prior to writing it, the last thing you want to do is jeopardise your job.

It really is a skill to be able to pen a good letter of any kind, if you doubt your writing skill, them maybe you should consider handing the job to someone who does have the right skills.

Here's a Sample Character Reference Letter to give you some ideas...

Layout is Important...

An acceptable business format is the best way to write a character reference letter. The last thing you wnat is for the people reading it to become frustrated with an unclear layout.

It's best to include your contact details so if any reader wishes to contact you, they can.

GOOD WRITTEN COMMUNICATION IN THE BUSINESS WORLD... is more than desirable, it's a critical ingredient. Those that can write any letter, not to mention a sample character reference letter are truly fortunate (I call them blessed) as it most certainly is an art in every sense of the word.
