Samsung Eternity A867 Plus Review

By Derek Hughes

If you wanted to buy the Samsung Eternity A867 Plus on November 4 of last year, you might have been disappointed because the company (AT&T) decided that it couldn't deliver on that date as promised. However, as soon as the phones arrive, they promise that the Samsung Eternity will be here for purchase.

If you want to purchase this amazing little handset for its features, this wait will be worth it and it won't dissapoint. Let's take a look at some of the offerings:

An expandable Memory: MicroSD (Transflash) up to 16GB, Internal Memory: 200 MB, MediaFLO, GPS navigation via the AT&T Navigator, HSDPA and 3G, Bluetooth 2.0, Full QWERTY keyboard, 3 megapixel camera, Accelerometer, TouchWiz UI, 3.5mm Headphone Jack, 3.2"x400x240 TFT Resistive touchscreen and Auto-rotation.

You'll also be able to get the handset on the AT&T carrier. It's going to cost you $99, but it will first cost you $149 and then you'll get a $50 mail-in rebate. This cell phone will customize with widgets that are specially designed, and the handset itself has a touchscreen that's 3.2 inches wide, with haptic support. The phone also gives you subtle vibrations that confirm the selections you've made. It does have one drawback, and that is that its chrome and black exterior will show fingerprints and other smudges.

Samsung Eternity A867 Plus impressions At first glance, the handset itself is clean, nice, streamlined, with the back of the phone looking like it's made of "brushed metal." It's not really brushed metal and is really plastic, but it still looks nice. The camera does not have a portrait meter or flash meter, which may be a disappointment. It does come with a 3.5 mm headphone jack, meaning that you can definitely listen to music as you please.

Feature: Touch Wiz UI The Samsung Eternity A867 Plus also has one great feature, the Touch Wiz UI. There aren't a lot of widgets to it at present, but Samsung is going to have more of them ready for release in the fall. One of the easiest access widgets it does have right now is the "sound profile" widget, and a profiles widget that goes with Bluetooth. Bluetooth's menu is also very easy to use, and the regular menu contains features like GPS, Messaging, AT&T, My Stuff, Adders Book, and YellowPages, as well as other things.

Keyboard and messaging This cell phone can use MMS, AIM, Yahoo!, SMS, IM, and MSN. It does helphave mobile e-mail, but right now, it's limited to POP3 basic providers. The T9 feature is included on the nice and roomy keyboard, but it's very inaccurate. A regular number pad is also available on the phone for handwriting recognition and texting.

Is the Samsung Eternity A867 Plus worth the money? It's most definitely for you if you want full touch technology, sleek and stylish sophistication, and the latest entertainment options. You can get immediate access to the Internet, true, but you can also get the latest in entertainment, and you'll likely like the top 3G/HSDPA device. The phone has a full touch QWERTY keyboard, and an on-board accelerometer. It also has vibration responsiveness with a 3.2-inch display that gives you crisp clarity and makes Internet surfing almost as much fun as doing it on a full-sized computer -- all in something that you can just slip into your pocket. Chances are, if you try the Samsung Eternity A867 Plus, you'll like it.
