Useful iPhone Apps that Make your Life Easier

By Thom Yarbrough

Although the market has been deluged with new phones, few have turned out to be as exciting as the iPhone. This fantastic phone brings a new level of enjoyment to users with numerous applications which you can either buy or download for free from the App Store. There are some really exciting applications out there which actually change the way you live your life. One such app would be the SleepStream app using which you can fall asleep easily. If you've always found yourself tossing and turning in bed and fluffing your pillows now and then, this app might help you get a refreshing night's sleep although you could even get rested with a power nap. How does it work? It's quite simple actually; just as your mother put you to sleep with lullabies when you were little, it plays a selection of soothing and calming sounds, all selected from nature. You will find that the interface is particularly easy to use, which is a good thing as you don't want to fiddle around with complicated stuff when you just want to sleep! Some of the sounds it creates is that of waterfalls, gushing rivers and other such nature based sounds. Set the alarm for the required period of time and it will wake you up quietly, and since the app allows you to choose how long it should work, it shuts down by itself after the specified time is over.

Who doesn't want to make a good and lasting impression on friends and loved ones, especially when we're at a fun party? The Quote Book application is one such tool which gives you instant access to numerous quotes, at least 3000, by famous people. Choose the category that you prefer, and Quote Book will look up an appropriate quote for you. You can also read a random quote if you prefer and some of the interesting things you can do with this app would be to mark your favorites, check out the quotes which you looked at recently, and even look up more info about the writer of the quote by simply looking up the information at Wikipedia, which can be accessed from inside the application.

If you love taking pictures and fiddling around with settings to achieve cool effects, then you'll simply adore the ColorSplash application on the iPhone. This app lets you first convert the photos you take into black and white and then you can choose to color a certain section of the photo with its original colors by using your fingers as a virtual brush. Dramatic effects can be achieved in as short a span of time as just 20 seconds because you can zoom as you brush the colors on the pictures, so it's easy to color even the hard-to-reach spots.

If Wikipedia is your source for information, then you don't have to be without it at anytime if you download the Wiki Mobile app. This application formats the articles in the right mode and you can see them in the portrait or landscape size. View articles offline by saving them and reading them at leisure. This app is really cool because it supports 32 languages.

These are just some of the different iPhone applications that are out there; there are plenty more. The iPhone apps that we have mentioned are all games and won't be solving any serious world problems right now; aside from boredom.
