PocketMac for Windows Mobile 5 & 6

By Thom Yarbrough

Even though they're not the huge sellers like the BlackBerry or iPhone, there are still fifty million Windows mobile devices in use around the world. It's obvious that they're great devices.

But with all of the smart phones on the market, why would Mac users desire a Windows Mobile Pocket PC, Smartphone, or Pocket PC Phone?

Here's the answer: Macintosh freaks know their tech devices and they realize that both Macintosh and Windows design the best state of the art devices and software. But the trouble with using a Windows Mobile Pocket PC, or Smartphone is that they don't synch with Windows Mobile devices without some tinkering. And that's a hassle.

But now someone's come up with a solution in the form of PocketMac for Windows Mobile 5 & 6. Windows Mobile 5 & 6 allows you to sync your contacts, calendar, tasks, email, and more between the Windows Mobile 5 & 6 and your Mac functions like Entourage, iCal and Address Book. You can also install 3rd party software and themes from your Mac to your Windows Mobile Pocket PC or Smartphone.

You can seamlessly and easily sync your Contacts, Calendar and Tasks, as well as synching your Macintosh Word and Excel docs, your iPhotos, Daylite, Now Contact and your iTunes and MP3 player.

PocketMac is a great little company run by two Mac loving brothers, Tim and Terence Goggin (one does design and engineering, one takes care of marketing), who've been brainstorming and creating custom software to expand Macintosh user's options for almost ten years now. When they saw the new Windows Mobile devices released about a year ago, they recognized their quality and wanted to create easy synching options for Mac users. After all, many of the things that Windows mobile devices are great at, such as graphics, music, movies, flash content, wireless networking, games, and web browsing - are the same things that Mac excels at.

System requirements for PocketMac for Windows Mobile 5 & 6 synching are: 10.4 (Tiger), or higher, 14MB free disc space on your Mac, one available USB port, Windows Mobile 5/6 device, Windows Mobile 5, Windows Mobile 6 - 6.1 and Macintosh Universal application.

Mac users celebrate: you've got easy two-way synching between Macintosh and your Windows Mobile device. This is good news for users of both devices, as seamless, user friendly synching has been a problem for Mac users for many Windows devices for too long. Now you can have it all - it's easy.
