Great New Personal Communication Tool Using Google Wave

By Rich Benvin

Google is at it again. They are now in limited release versions they are allowing access to a new product called Google wave that will replace e-mail and instant messaging as a new way of electronic communication for businesses and individuals.

Using Wave, you will be able to work collaboratively with co-workers around the world to produce RFT files, videos, photos, maps and much more.

When using a wave, any person that is a participant can send a reply anywhere in the message, make edits and add more participants anywhere during the process. There is a playback feature that allows anyone involved in the wave to rewind the message and see what others are saying in the process.

Using Google Wave is a great way to work together on group projects. It allows you to share photographs or take notes on a meeting, even if the meeting is online. This is an excellent way for groups in satellite offices to brainstorm. If you have a little down time, Google Wave even offers interactive games to fill the spare time.

Google Wave will build on the best features of G-mail where messages remain as threads, but also adds many of the best features of instant messaging programs and more.

The program has been released to a select group of users but is currently considered to be in the development state and will be through the end of 2009. Full release should be seen sometime in 2010.

The program offers both spelling and grammar checks as well as translation of the document into 40 different languages almost in an instant. Once again, showing the usefulness of the program around the world.

Be sure that you watch for the full release of Google Wave in the near future. If you want to get in on the release as soon as possible be sure that you sign up at Google now for an invitation.
