Push Email Is Always Working For You

By Greg Black

Email is rapidly becoming the most commonly used method of communication between businesses or individuals. It is simple and effective and leaves a convenient record of everything that was said. Many email providers have developed different options and tools to access the mail on a server, but push email has changed that procedure completely. These new methods make mobile email even more useful and convenient.

Push email gives a user instant access to any and all new email received on the server. Even on the road, the user never has to worry about missing out on an important message because the responsibility to check for new mail has been completely delegated to the push email system.

How does push email work compared to traditional email protocols? The answer is in the way messages are received by the server and then sent out again. In a traditional POP3 system (Post Office Protocol) the user or the client logs into an email program that queries the email server to find out if there is any new mail available. If there are new messages (at logon or at regular intervals) the protocol will download it onto the client's computer.

Push email, on the other hand, does not require these regular checks by the computer or by the user. Instead, the mail server is set to instantly notify the client that an email has arrived. For anyone who often goes on the road or works from different locations can conveniently stay connected with the business or with friends and family no matter where they are.

Push email services really began to take off when the handheld devices market became synonymous with mobile productivity. A handheld device like a smart phone or PDA can act as the client for push email so that a user can have access to their messages even without a computer nearby. Most modern phones will, of course, allow a user to read, reply, and delete any messages, just as if they really were on a computer, but by using a push email system a user can have the added convenience of staying connected at all times.

The push email protocol may not be for everyone but for those needing to stay connected it may be one of the most productive services available. Handheld and mobile devices differ so it is important to research which services and features you would be in need of and purchase a push email enabled device accordingly. Keep in mind reliable connections and features while comparing devices.
