The Casio Exilim C721 The Military Approved Consumer Cell Phone

By Allen F. Baker

Cell phones are fragile and delicate devices. While they are built to last the normal wear and tear of regular use they aren't designed to withstand extreme circumstances. For anyone who leads a very active lifestyle they might find that average phones just wont cut it. These people need a rugged phone that is built to last. The Casio Exilim C721 available on Verizon Wireless is such a phone. The previous series of phones called the G'zOne series were military tested phones and are extremely durable. For the next line of phones G'zOne decided to team up with Casio (well known for its digital cameras) to create an extremely rugged camera phone. The merger brought forth the Casio Exilim C721. The phone boasts a camera, durable casing and even full HTML web browsing.

While the previous installments of G'zOne phones were durable they weren't much to look at. The Exilim not only improves on its durability it also improve on its design as well. The phone has a sleek modern feel which will appeal to the masses. The Exilim is military tested and passes the MIL-STD 810F code which means the phone would be functional even when it is completely submerged in water. One can even take photos underwater (a feature that many divers could use regularly). The phone can also withstand rain, dust, salt, extreme humidity, snow, and even solar radiation and still be functional.

Additionally the camera on the Exilim is 5.1 megapixels. The camera takes amazing photos and works just as well as average point and shoots. The ingenious design also helps the phone function like a normal camera. The flip compartment can be rotated completely around which turns the screen into a camera view finder. The view finder can be used for self portraits or as a traditional view finder if one flips the phone closed in this state. This camera offers a staggering 7 different image resolutions. It also features an image stabilizer, 16x digital zoom, and an auto focus option. Another feature which makes the camera easy to use is the various presets available. These presets automatically adjust the camera properties to take the best pictures possible in any given situation and location. The mode titles are self explanatory with such labels as Person, Night View, Food, and Party among others. The camera can also record video, the video quality was quite nice for a camera phone.

The phone also features a full HTML web browser. The web browsing worked well and one will be able to see clearly websites despite the screens small size. Full HTML web browsing is usually only available on phones with larger screens, but the Exilim allows you to zoom in and out of web pages for a better view.

The Casio Exilim C721 would make a great phone for anyone who needs a durable device to withstand their active lifestyle. Along with its amazing camera and easy to use interface this phone is a great device anyone can utilize. It may cost a little more than other phones but the price tag is worth it alone for the camera and durability.
