Novatels (NVTL) innovative approach, to wireless broadband technologies, has made them a leader in this market. Novatel has recently announced the introduction of a new product in the USB line - the Ovation MC760. According to the technical specs, this unit will be the smallest EVDO (Evolution Data Only/Evolution Data Optimized) Rev. A USB modem, with a total weight of less than 1 ounce and measuring under 3-inches long.

This plug-n-play unit is much more powerful than its physique gives off. The Ovation MC760 is packed with features like onboard GPS (which can work with just about any GPS software), an integrated microSD slot (up to 8GB), and a dual band antenna system. You can also store video and audio with the use hot-swappable SD storage card (which must be purchased separately).

The best feature on the Ovation MC760 is the dual band antenna. This feature alone can set the EVDO Rev. A USB modem in a class by itself. Now you can use the dual band antenna to increase the performance when you are not receiving such a good signal.

The Ovation MC760 is ready to use as soon as you get it. You do need to have a Type A USB port which can be found on most Windows Vista, Windows XP, Windows 2000, Mac, and Linux machines. Most laptops, desktops, and PDA's already have the type A USB port. The Ovation MC760 will allow you to connect faster to the web compared to cable or a DSL modem. Keep in mind you must be in range of a cellular service.

The Novatels Ovation MC760 features a LED light that will let you know when the modem has made connection. Mobilink? Lite Connection Manager Software will also make using this product easier. You can find the software included with the Ovation MC760.

The Ovation MC760 is due to be released this year according to Novatel. They hope to get it out on the market during the first quarter. Pricing has not yet been finalized and the budget for the Ovation MC760 has not been set.
