Neil Armstrong said it: "Houston, the Eagle has landed." But those famous words would not be uttered for years when the Soviet Space Program successfully sent Sputnik into orbit in 1957. Congress reacted with a swiftness reserved for a national crisis. Indeed, for many Americans, the perceived superiority of the Soviet program was tantamount to a crisis. President Eisenhower moved quickly to establish both NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) and DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) in 1958.

The motto declared "For the Benefit of All," but NASA moved quickly for the American public when it launched the Explorer 1 satellite on January 31, 1958. Led by the former head of the German rocket program, Wernher von Braun, NASA immediately began to explore the possibility of sending human beings into space. Dubbed Project Mercury, this program involved seven original astronauts, of whom, Alan Shepard became the first American into space, while John Glenn would become the first American to orbit the earth.

With the Space Race essentially in hand, NASA began implementing a new tracking system, called the Global Positioning System (GPS). The system involved the use of satellites to track the position and location of both spacecraft and intercontinental ballistic missiles. Initially developed by the Navy, the first successful GPS tracking system was dubbed Transit, and used five satellites to triangulate positions around the globe.

Though GPS systems had been used exclusively by the military and government, all that changed in 1983. In that year, a Soviet interceptor aircraft shot down the civilian Korean Air airliner KAL 007, killing all 269 people on board. The plane had strayed into Soviet airspace and although the Soviet had probable cause to destroy the perceived threat, it was determined had the airliner had accurate navigational systems, the tragedy could have been avoided. President Ronald Reagan subsequently announced that civilians and civilian agencies should have access to the GPS tracking systems.

The Short Cut To Success

There's one common theme that shows up over and over in emails, blog posts, Ask campaigns and phone calls. Year after year, it's always the same. But I don't think I ever realized the extent of what you were asking for, until now. Do you know what I'm talking about?

You want a short cut, not just a process, but a short cut for the system, a short cut for the program, the Cliff notes of the book, you want the magic pill.

Poof, it's done.

Actually, now that I'm writing this I can think of a couple Internet marketing things I'd like that magic pill for myself, but I've never found one and I don't believe it really exists.

I'm not saying it's an inherently bad thing to want it boiled down to the barest of effort, to almost eliminate the learning curve. I know it's not that you're lazy. I get that you're totally and frustratingly overwhelmed. There's way too much information and too many offers and too many programs that say you can't live without this new and improved tool that will instantly transform your business.

In very few instances that may be true.

But it's not always possible. Most of the time there is some level of work on your part and a learning curve involved. How much time, money and effort will vary depending on what you're doing and also to a certain extent what level of success you choose to achieve.

You do consciously or sub-consciously choose your level of success by choosing your level of commitment and the level of education you decide to buy. Yes, I said buy, because most high level education that leads to lasting success is something you buy. From a $7 report to a $100,000 a year mentoring program. You choose.

I understand your financial ability plays a role in what you buy, but you need to understand that your financial situation will rarely shift on it's own without you taking a leap of faith and possibly putting something on a credit card, or a few credit cards. In the first 2 years I was learning this business I built up quite a library of resource that helped me grow and I was initially putting out a lot more money than I was taking in. I took a leap of faith. Without doing that I don't believe I would be where I am today.

Most people need more to be successful than just one quick fix and thats what Ive been thinking about the last few days. Ive been asking myself how can I put together all the different pieces I teach into a cohesive package that delivers exactly what you need.

4. Putting It All Together and Growing: Where will you get the tools, strategies,and training to continuously take your business and your life to the next level?

4 Core Blueprints to Reclaim your Life

This has been going on forever, since advertising began, but I swear it's getting worse. Everywhere I look I see people advertising quick fixes for almost anything you need, business or personal.

For instance, I'm shocked at the list of horrible side effects people are willing to endure to get a quick fix for one thing or another from a pill they can pop instead of changing a habit.

The simple fact is there is no magic bullet, but there are some core principles that if implemented fully into your life will make you feel like you do have that magic bullet.

It's become a part of our society to treat the symptoms and never even take the time to uncover the cause, much less take responsibility for it or do anything constructive to change it.

In a real sense it's true of weight problems, health issues, issues in personal relationships, addictions, money issues, lifestyle issues and certainly with business.

In business the quick fix is king. Why do you think the get rich quick pitch is perennially one of the biggest money makers for marketers, followed closely by the next tricked out tool that will, of course, make you rich right now?

I'm sure if you've been in business for any length of time you've heard someone say, "Sell them what they want, not what they need."

Even seemingly intelligent people who know the quick fix isn't going to happen will still buy it just in case this one is the real deal. I know I've done it. It's human nature to not want to miss out on the next big thing.

But when you look inside yourself and take a deep breath and get centered and listen to your inner voice, you know none of it is true. The truth is, it all begins and ends with you.

Isn't it amazing how much information you can find out about yourself from verbalizing and then just being aware of your reaction?

Listen to what you really need and move toward those things first.

Clarke's Orbit

Chances are if you ask the average person if he or she has ever heard of Arthur C. Clarke they will respond with a glazed look in their eyes. But, if you then played the opening bars of Strausss Thus Spoke Zarathustra and mentioned Stanley Kubrick, you may actually get a flicker of recognition. If you spoke the famous line, Open the pod bay doors, HAL! you could well get a big smile and a definitive Right, right!

There is little celebration for a science fiction or fantasy writer. Many of the greats were little noticed in their lifetimes. Though this is certainly not the case with Clarke, Philip K. Dick, Robert Heinlein, or Isaac Asimov, there are a hundred writer for each of them that have never seen a Nebula Award or an Oscar. Literary or even cultural obscurity is one thing, but to fail to recognize a scientific breakthrough is shameful.

The awareness of Clarke as a great writer is one thing, but his real, scientific contributions are another. Few people are aware of the fact he pioneered the concept upon which modern global satellite communication is based. Having served in the Royal Air Force from 1941 through 1946 as a radar instructor and technician, Clarke first proposed the idea of a satellite-based communications system in 1945. He proposed geostationary satellites could be used as telecommunication relays in a paper entitled Extra-Terrestrial Relays, which was published in Wireless World in 1945.

This simple idea has had a profound affect on our daily lives, especially with regards to GPS tracking systems. It is easy to take the technology that makes cellphones and instant driving directions possible for granted. 5 Keys to Developing the Courage to Go for Your Dreams

How do you develop the courage to go for your dreams? That's the million -dollar question, isn't it? Because if you don't learn how, it will not only cost you the millions you could have earned, it will cost you the realization of your passion and your purpose.

It's a lot of fun planning the vision for your life and the action steps you're going to take to live your passion. It's another thing to keep moving forward as it all starts to become real. That's where the fear sets in and you start to wonder what ever made you think you could do this.

Here are 5 keys to developing the courage to go for your dreams:

1. Move past the fear

I'm sorry to tell you I haven't found a magic pill for this. It has to come from inside of you. Nobody can do it for you. And it all starts with your vision.

There is so much more to creating a vision for your life than just discovering your passion. There's so much more than just writing down some goals. I would venture to say that you've done that before and it wasn't enough to get you where you want to go.

Fear not! There's a system for creating a vision for your life, just as there is a system for anything else you want to be successful at. The question is whether you will take the time to learn it.

Discovering your purpose was only the first step. To walk through your fear, you have to be clear on where you are going.

2. Create a strong vision

You need a vision that is so strong you can't possibly walk away from it.

Once you have a strong, compelling vision that's based on your passion and purpose in life, how could you let anything stop you?

When you know what you want and you've visualized it over and over and over until it becomes part of who you are, how could you stop?

When you see yourself in the life you will have upon the realization of you vision, how could you stop?

The answer is, you can't! You can't stop; it's impossible! You can drag out the process, but as hard as you try, you can't stop!

3. Stop projecting future catastrophes

Are you aware that 95% of the things you spend your time worrying about never happen? So, isn't worrying about the outcome of things you haven't done yet ridiculous?

Once you realize you've invested so much of yourself into your vision that there's nothing that's going to stop you from creating everything you've envisioned, what's the point in letting your fears delay the inevitable?

And it is inevitable. With the vision you've created, you've tapped into the Universal Laws and everything you need is being drawn to you as we speak. You've used the law of attraction by being clear on what you want and asking for it. You've used the law of creating a vacuum by clearing out a lot of the things that no longer fit in your life to make space available for something better to show up. Think about it.

You can run and you can hide, but eventually everything you visualize will come to you if you take all the necessary steps. So why fight it? This is what you want more than anything, isn't it?

Are you crazy? Why would you spend your time discovering your passion and creating a vision for it if you had no intention of following through? Are you the kind of person who does things like this for an intellectual exercise?

Well guess what, the joke's on you. You've created a process you can't stop. It will move forward whether you have chickened out or not. So what's the point in trying to avoid your future success?

4. Get Out of the Way

When did you want something so bad you could taste it and then decide you were too scared to go for it?

The only courage you need to go for your dreams is the courage to get out of your own way. Just take a deep breath and move aside.

If you look back over your life, I'm sure you can find many examples when you did just this.

So the next time you feel like your courage to go for your dream has abandoned you, just tell yourself there is no reason to fight it. Falling into your fears can postpone your success for a while, but you can't stop it, so why even try.

Get back on that horse and keep riding to the finish line.

5. You've Always Had It, Dorothy

The good news is you don't have to worry about how you'll develop the courage to go for your dreams. You already have it.

When you feel like it's too big for you to go on, look at how far you've come already.

The bottom line regarding courage comes from the Wizard of Oz. Towards the end of the movie, Dorothy thinks she'll never go home. Just then Glinda the good witch shows up. She tells her she's always had the power to go back to Kansas but she didn't tell her before because she wouldn't have believed her. She had to learn it for herself.

But to find out how to unleash the power she had inside, she needed to ask for help. Don't be afraid to ask for what you need.

So my little Dorothy, you've always had the power inside you. All you have to do is have someone show you where it is. You're so much stronger than you give yourself credit for.

Get some mentoring if you aren't achieving what you want as fast as you want it. You may need an outside perspective and a little refocusing. Because when your actions and your purpose are in alignment everything falls into place. Things just flow. I can help you get there.

The accessories, shipped with this unit, are phenomenal: travel charger with an assortment of adapters, a USB cable, an 8GB microSD card, a SIM card, a wired headset, a software CD, and user manual. Consumers have everything they need upon delivery of their unit. Additionally, the phone itself has many amazing features, such as a 3.2 megapixel camera, built-in GPS, media player, video recording, email, organizer, phone, browser, corporate data access, and SMS / MMS.

The latest version of BlackBerrys OS - version 4.7 - is standard on the storm. This version offers a new user interface, one that is more exciting and easy to navigate! Users will also be able to edit documents, like word and excel, due to DataViz Documents. The Standard Version comes with the phone; however, you can upgrade to Premium if you choose. (If you're planning on creating new documents, from your Storm, you will need to upgrade to Premium.)

The BlackBerry Storm is one of the first touch screen phones to utilized SurePress technology. This technology forces users to click on the screen, making for a more realistic experience. For example, when you are typing on the keyboard, you actually have to click in order for the letter to type; this is a much more realistic experience than just tapping your fingertip on the key.

The Storms 3.25-inch TFT LCD 480 x 360 resolution 65,000 color display is one of the most beautifully crisp displays available on a smart phone.

Unlike many other phones, consumers have the ability to adjust backlighting, and change the font size and type on their display. Additionally, there is an accelerometer tightly integrated into this unit. This device changes the display from portrait to landscape, and landscape to portrait, depending on the position in which the phone is being held.

There is no physical keyboard, on this phone, as it is a full touch screen phone. The keyboards are accessed through the display. If you are in portrait mode, you will have access to the SureType board, and if you are in landscape mode, you will use the QWERTY board.

They keyboards have to fit within the diameter of the screen. Even though the LCD display is a good size, it is not necessarily adequate for a keyboard. Having said this, the keyboards are a bit difficult to use, especially if you have bigger hands.

The phone itself is about the same size as other smart phones on the market, measuring around 4.43 x 2.45 x 0.55 inches, and weighing 5.5 ounces. The overall design provides a sturdy frame and easy to grip edges.

Performance, on the Storm, is a bit disappointing. There is some severe lag time with application use, internet browsing, instant message, and just overall functionality. Firmware updates have boosted performance just a bit, but not quite enough. On the other hand, battery performance is above par. On average, you will have about six hours of talk time and 15 days on standby time.

Looking at the big picture, the BlackBerry Storm is a functional phone. Its features and what it offers are a little above standard. If you can put aside slight performance glitches, this just might be the right smart phone for you.

It comes with a hefty price tag of around $650, but you can count on a 400 MHz XScale processor, a biometric fingerprint scanner and much more memory. The biometric scanner is a clear winning point because it means that if your hand held is ever stolen, someone will not be able to retrieve your documents or use your pocket PC software.

The H5550 is slightly bigger than the H1910, but both are slim, which translates into an easy carrying size perfect for your purse, briefcase or pocket. Both have a trans-reflective display that is of the highest quality and produces clear, high definition pictures. Both have removable batteries, which means you can replace the battery with a fully charged one and not have to worry about losing your important documents and files.

Clarion specializes in car audio and navigation systems. Because of their expertise, they were able to add some additional bonuses, to the MiND, that many other GPS systems do not have. One of these bonuses is the way the navigational unit interacts with your car via its docking station.

Any functional piece of technology must have a good engine. The MiND has Intel's Atom CPU, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 2.0, together with a GPS receiver, 512MB of RAM and 4GB of flash-based storage.

The MiND would not be a proper navigational unit with its 4.8-inch touch screen display, with a resolution of 800 x 480. This screen allows for visible navigation of roads, even while you're driving. Additionally, viewing videos and web pages are crisp as well.

Both the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth technologies are tightly integrated into the MiND. This technology gives you the ability to connect to the internet from home, the office, or other hot spot locations. Bluetooth can be used - in conjunction with cell phones - for internet connection. The current model of the MiND does not have "always-on" connection; however, later models will include the integration of either 3G or WiMAX.

Linux operating systems are not the most user-friendly; however, they do provide for a stable, flexible foundation. Clarion used this Linux, as an operating system, for this reason. It provides consumers with good performance along with a solid backend. Many applications are available, out-of-the-box. Applications like Google Maps, Google Earth, YouTube viewer, email clients, and document and media viewers. These applications make your experience real.

Battery life, on many mobile devices, has increased dramatically over the years. However, Clarion did not put much effort into MiNDs' battery. The average life span, on its battery, is anywhere from 90 minutes up to 2 hours. MiNDs' battery life is based on what applications are running and how the settings have been set. Regardless, in comparison with other battery life spans, this definitely needs to be improved.

As with any other GPS system, there are many points-of-interests automatically available to you. Consumers can find additional POIs online and download them to their devices. This unit integrates closely with your car, like no other system has done. Docking the MiND, with the proper accessories, provides you with turn-by-turn directions, in addition to a realistic experience that no other mobile navigational device can provide.

Clarions MiND is selling for around $649.99. This price is for the models that offer Wi-Fi and Bluetooth only. There has not yet been a price announced for the models that will have 3G or WiMAX technologies.

Clarion is looking to provide consumers with an "always-on" experience. While they have not yet reached this goal, they are close. They have managed to provide consumers with loads of applications in a unique device - a device that intimately integrates with your vehicle, giving you a GPS experience like never before.
