The Panasonic Viera TX-P42X10

By Julia Desai

There have been times in history when something comes along that changes all of a society. Before the advent of Television people would gather round around their radios and listen in to favorite programs or ball games. Before that family members would read or tell tales around the fire. When Television came along it wasn't easy to uncover more than a couple of brands. They were scarce and primarily for the well to do. Today Television buying is completely altered. With all of the choices that you have to make it can be a hazardous experience. So here are some of the pitfalls you may want to steer clear of when trying to pick out the new tube.

Having a good idea about what is out there is the first thing that you need to understand. Don't go shopping and do the typical thing of okay we have seen the best they want this price, let's pay it and go. Be willing to shop around some.

One of the best ways that you can do this is with a computer. Television buying can be fun if you sit in front of the computer screen for a few nights and dream about what you want in a set. Make sure and look at bargains, but also consider features. They may have it offered for less because it is a crappy set.

One option, with the internet is to actually buy the computer in line. This option allows you to see all that is available in the privacy of your own home with out the hassle of a salesman always making life annoying. There are two methods of buying and then picking up the Television though. The first way that you can accomplish this is to go to the website of a major retailer and let them have you pick it up at a local store. This will cut out some of the expense as this is usually included in the price of the Television . The other way that you can do it is to have the set shipped to your home. There is a problem with extra cost though. You will have to pay for shipping and insurance for the set.

Know what you are talking about when you go into the store. The sales people will be impressed that they can talk to someone who took some time to get to know the products. It wastes less of their time and allows you to go onto the store and browse the selection without needing their help unless you run into something you do not know about.

Another thing to realize is that they are going to try and sell you a warranty when you are TV buying. These are generally worthless and only make money for the store.

The final piece of advice is to make sure that you ask the salesman what types of incentives the store or manufacturer is offering. They may tell you up front, but if they forget you may be able to save quite a bit of money if you ask.

Some times when it comes to the final sale of a Television such as the TX-P42X10 is that they will try to get you to purchase a credit card to buy it with. They do this because it is pure profit for the store, but a big pitfall for you.
