5G Wireless Arrives

By Daniel Stouffer

The future is today, well almost anyway. With what is anticipated to be much fanfare, the very latest to hit the world of cellular phone technology is about to be unveiled to the public. Dubbed 5G wireless, the new service is touted to revolutionize the somewhat fragmented cellular industry, especially in North America.

5G wireless represents a major step up from the status quo of today. As consumers view with interest an upgraded Apple iPhone and a Google Android phone, it seems that significant improvements are on the horizon. The technology is likely to change the way that users look at their phones once and for all. Whilst there has already been a considerable shakeup in the industry due to the advent of 3G connectivity and the emergence of the smart phone, the 5G revolution is likely to take this several steps further.

When the hear about 5G, we want to know what the difference is. It appears that this service will be a hybrid, combining methods of transmission using VoIP, or voice over Internet protocol. This will allow for data to be transferred very quickly and the quality will also prevail. Transfer rates will be almost unheard of and much larger volumes may be transmitted more efficiently.

We can get excited about service enhancements, but when we see the cutting edge equipment which will be available and combine this with delivery methods we will open up a whole new world of choices. The cell phone is far from being just a talking device anymore, but in the new era it will have astonishing accessibility, flexibility and features and be truly a personal assistant by itself.

A powerful miniature computer is a far more appropriate description of tomorrow's 5G wireless phone. Much increased bandwidth and VoIP protocols will enable you to use it for amazing purposes. For example, how about downloading a feature-length high definition movie in a matter of minutes, connecting the phone to your widescreen television and settling back to watch. No more trips to the video rental store.

In addition to increased function, 5G wireless will shrink the world. No longer will it be necessary to worry about whether your phone will work if you travel overseas, or whether you are hitting the correct frequencies. No longer will you have to worry about very expensive international call rates and roaming will be a thing of the past. International phone calls will essentially be conducted as if they were local.

There will be a big challenge offered to the phone manufacturers when 5G wireless service arrives. This is sure to spark a considerable demand from the consumer of tomorrow as he or she will be looking for answers to put to an end the confusion and criticism surrounding the cellular industry for so long.

If 5G is here, what happened to 4G? Can this technology be so advanced that it just leapfrogs? We should all wonder what is next in the cellular world.
