Why Use Social Networks in Business

The web has to offer many new ways to do business. It gives your business access to millions of potential customers around the world, 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.

However your business has to keep up with the technology. Fail to keep up and you will lose business. One of the biggest changes of recent times are social networks. People no longer just look for information, they want to communicate. Their attention span has shortened and they don't want to see long sales letters anymore. They want someone who can respond to them.

Communication with your customers is not a new idea in business. To be successful a business has always had to listen and respond to their customers - communication is key. However to establish such communication has always been a difficult task. The methods used to do that are time consuming and expensive. Every business has their methods which aim to make that process as efficient as possible but it's nowhere near perfect.

The Internet as medium has already given the means to establish such communication. It has become a standard and a must for anu business in order to survive, therefore it's no longer enough to dominate your competition. Social network have created the new opportunity for those business that are innovative and react fast.

Social networks engage the users, they become constantly interested in your services. Think of it as a party with good friends, it's much easier to communicate than the formal, distant way. To achieve this and create such a community is every marketer's dream. Not only to have a hungry crowd but to know their every need, to be able to give them what they want and make money from it.

But there are obstacles, it's not a straight forward process. It's not trivial to find your niche and build your community. Such communities already exist, but to approach them they have to let you in. Big social networks have their restrictions.
